I got my Nishika out for another adventure this time in the city that never sleeps and is therefore a bit cranky. The only city as far as I know that refers to itself as a fruit. NYC !

Taken with Fuji Superia 200 and my 4-lens Nishika plastic camera.

For my previous series with the Nishika cam please check them here and here and here

Last week I was visiting New York City and this gave me the opportunity to create some cinemagraphs. These were taken all over the city whenever we encountered anything interesting.

Cinemagraphs are really interesting because it makes you look at something differently. I don’t just want a strong static composition, but I have to consider the dynamic element and if it will actually add something to the image. The following are far from perfect but a start to a very interesting experiment.

This isn’t supposed to be my Nishika Blog, but I’ve just had so much fun shooting with this plastic camera. I threw on a flash, got some friends together and had some beers. I did realize outside of 1.5 meters ( 6 foot for you yanks) the flash is pretty worthless, I tried some jumping pictures, but the flash couldn’t handle the distance.

A few weeks ago on Vesak Day I went out with my Nishika camera and took more shots and tried some jumping pictures this time. They came out quite well. Everything was taken outside as this camera needs quite a bit of light. My friends tried a variety of poses including, the star jump, the walking man, the leveation and the “checking my iphone” float. We also came across a pretty large dinosaur in the middle of some apartment buildings.

This ain’t no avatar.

I got this camera a few years ago, put 2 rolls through it and they came back blank. Nothing, nada. I threw it in the bag of my closet and forgot about it. Now with this blog, I decided to have one last look at it and give it a final spin. I took it to a pinhole camera gathering in the Singapore Zoo. I filled it up and my expectations were nice and low. After picking up the scanned images I was impressed. I had to put the gifs together in Photoshop which resulted in pretty nice images. Now I am thinking of all the possibilities this camera has.
