Vertical photos in the Rocket can work well. It just doesn’t feel instinctually “right”.

A long long time ago in a country far away I got a splitcam as a gift. This light yellow black camera is designed to take double exposures with a nifty slot covering part of the lens. I shot one roll in it, the film got stuck so I never shot with it again. Until last summer in Aruba, I gave this old camera another spin and here are the results. It did get stuck again so I was never able to finish the roll but I did get the film developed.
My girlfriend gave my a bunch of these film she found back at her home. Kodak 200 Gold Korea color negative expired film. I quickly ran through a roll with my SLR and I was surprised at the vibrant color this expired roll was able to give me. The only downside is that this roll is for 27 exposures and at the photolab they charged me for 36.
These were all taken in a place called Bugis. My favorite photolab is located there, so the last few shots of most rolls are taken there. Its a vibrant area with an interesting atmosphere, I like it more than the usual big brand fancy shopping malls in Orchard. Where else can you see a older dude practice caligraphy with his feet while upside down?
The following were taken during a trip to Bejing with my parents. Again the film delivers. This was not expired film, but a fresh roll, straight from the oven.
I love how vibrant the blue of her coat is.
These were taking in the 798 art district in Bejijng. An awesome place to walk around and sicover. I wish every city had a place like this.
A few weeks ago on Vesak Day I went out with my Nishika camera and took more shots and tried some jumping pictures this time. They came out quite well. Everything was taken outside as this camera needs quite a bit of light. My friends tried a variety of poses including, the star jump, the walking man, the leveation and the “checking my iphone” float. We also came across a pretty large dinosaur in the middle of some apartment buildings.
Fuji Superia 200 is my number one choice when shooting for sprockets. I love the colorful lines along the sprocket that only Superia brings. The great thing is that film is very common. I know I can go to places where film isn’t common anymore and still pick up some rolls of Superia. These were shot with my Canon SLR and 50mm lens.
These was an abanded playground I found in the west of Singapore now almost taken over by the jungle.

I bought my Sprocket Rocket 2 weeks ago and finally got my first roll back. And I am impressed. Impressed enough that this will replace my Holga as my new sprocket creating mayhem wonder. No lightleaks, no overlapping images, not dealing with gaffers tape, no liquids pouring out, this camera has it all.
It is also very wide. Wider than I expected. The lens is nice and sharp and the focus mechanism is nice and simple. I’m loving it.These were shot using Solaris 200 film by Ferrania. They give the distinct “plus” “minus” look around the upper sprockets.
Next is to try to some night shots in bulb mode. I am also waiting for a flash from Ebay so I can try out some flash photography with the Rocket. But this is probably the best first roll of film I’ve ever gotten back. Congratualtions Sprocket Rocket, you just made the team !
